Lifestyle and Portrait Photography

What is the difference between Lifestyle and Portrait Photography? Lifestyle photography is capturing the details of your life, whatever stage you are at, in a natural genuine way. It involves less posing and more action! This shooting style is perfect for young children under 3 as it captures them in a relaxed way as they play and interact with family. It is also great for those that consider themselves “camera shy” as the focus is on what you are doing together as a family rather than looking at the camera.

Portrait Photography is posed and the lighting is controlled. I have trained with some of the worlds best photographers which enables me to confidently give instruction on how to pose. So it is not as scary as it sounds! Either of these styles can take place as a family group or individuals in or outside. The majority of my family sessions contain a mix of both of these styles, particularly families with young children.   Lifestyle or Portrait sessions are based on approximately one hour of time, either outside at a particular location or if they are part of the children’s packages they can be in the studio.

One of the things I really strive to do during any photography session is to make you feel at ease and comfortable in front of the camera. This is reflected in the pictures and makes the experience more fun. For family, engagement and maternity shoots I like to work outside. This provides a vast array of locations that can be used as a beautiful back drop to your shoot. People often feel more comfortable in a large open space to interact with loved ones without feeling the pressure of a confined studio space.

How to Book

I have limited spaces each year for lifestyle shoots as these often require a weekend slot. Please visit the Investment page for more information.
