Lynford Hall Weddings

Whenever I’ve been at Lynford Hall I’ve felt the staff have worked hard to make the day special.  Jo and Mark’s wedding in August 2015 is one example that always comes to mind when I talk about the venue. Although it was some time ago, I wanted to share a little bit about their day and what makes Lynford Hall a great venue.

Jo and Mark were possibly the sweetest couple I have ever worked with.  So in love and so happy to be planning their wedding together. They really were a joy to work with!  They chose an 8 hour photography package which meant I covered some of the getting ready photos as well as a bit of the evening.  We met together a couple of times before the wedding to discuss the schedule and formal photos. Like many others, they expressed their fears about their having pictures taken. As with all the couples I work with, I assured them that I would talk them through the posing so that they felt comfortable in front of the camera.

The Big Day Arrived

It was a gorgeous August day with a slight breeze to make the heat all the more enjoyable.  I arrived as Jo’s daughter, the maid of honour, was having her hair styled by the lovely Rachel from Serenity.  It was a calm and relaxed atmosphere and Jo was her usual happy self with no hint of wedding stress!  Jo had seen the ring and shoe shot on the website and given how spectacular her shoes were, liked the idea of having it replicated.  After all the detail shots were taken we took the wedding dress out in the beautiful gardens.  It’s a shot that up until this shoot had never been practical.

Once all the preparations were complete I headed to the church for the ceremony.   It was a gorgeous church and Jo and Mark had arranged for the local choir to perform during the signing of the register.  It was lovely to see all the children dressed in their uniforms and excited to sing on such a special day.  Jo arrived in her wedding car and unfortunately the edge of her dress dropped into a puddle as she was stepping out.  It didn’t phase her at all. The smile never left her face and Jo excitedly got ready to walk down the isle to the man of her dreams. It was lovely to see this adoring couple say their vows. Their faces glowed with happiness and they loved the choir. They made the time to have a group photo with them all before the end of the ceremony.

The Reception at Lynford Hall

After some parent shots at the church everyone headed back to the venue for the drinks reception.  It was bright sunshine with a few clouds and the guests were enjoying the day.  The group shots were taken and then after some time to relax and mingle it was time for the wedding breakfast. The portraits were going to be taken after the meal and in the golden hour light.

Upon entering the room, Emma the co-ordinator explained to Jo and Mark that the company hired for the table decor had not shown up.  With little time to spare Emma collected flowers from the garden which related to their chosen colour scheme.  The tables were dressed using a simple and tasteful selection of vases available at the venue. Emma had worked extremely hard and the room looked stunning.  Her passion and dedication to the job really shined through. She had even arranged for another company to decorate the evening room at short notice.

The rest of the day went smoothly and the team did a fantastic job.  The food was delicious and the guests enjoyed their time with the couple.  During the dessert the light had the perfect golden glow so I asked Mark and Jo to head down to gardens for their portraits.  It was beautiful and they looked amazing together.  Lynford Hall has some incredible grounds which make it a great venue for weddings.

Getting the Party Started

The decor company did a fantastic job in the evening and the tables looked lovely.  Probably not the same as Mark and Jo had expected but they were so grateful that Emma had resolved the issues on their behalf.  It’s times like this that you appreciate the experience that a good venue like Lynford Hall have to offer.

Mark played the drums in a band and he and his band mates were providing some of the evening entertainment.  It was a nice personal touch to such an intimate day and thoroughly enjoyed by their guests. They set up after the meal and the DJ was ready to provide music for the first dance.  As usual the children were the first on the dance floor and having a great time. Mark and Jo had a fantastic day and it was an absolute joy to be a part of it.
