This year has been an exciting one and I’ve worked particularly hard to develop my Cake Smash Photography Sessions. Until this year, I had not advertised these sessions at all. I had the occasional shoot but since marketing them at the start of the year I have had 20 of these adorable sessions. It’s been an exciting adventure and one of my favourite types of shoot. I love that these sessions are so natural and each little one’s character is so comically captured during the cake smash.
The first part of the year I experimented with different back drops and props but more recently I have found the set up that I love. It has streamlined the design of the set and drawn more attention to the cake. Previously, I found the props were so much fun the babies were less interested in the cake! The simplified set ups have increased the quality of the images and far more cake is being consumed! I also had the cakes re-designed so that a number one could be incorporated to make it clear how old they are. Nadine created the new design perfectly and as always they have been delicious and looked stunning.
The last Cake Smash Photography Session of 2016
My last Cake shoot this year was with this adorable little one. She had woken up with a cold and wasn’t feeling her best. Despite feeling poorly, once she was changed into my studio tutu dress she looked amazing. Every bit a princess. To start with, she was very dependent on Mum and Dad and just wanted cuddles. We tried everything to settle her but she just wasn’t feeling it. Finally I had an idea that I suspected may brighten her mood! I got one of my cute bunny props and we pretended bunny was eating her cake! She found this very amusing and it wasn’t long before she got stuck into the cake. Her confidence grew immensely and soon she was happily squishing the cake and enjoying eating it. The session ended up being a huge success and a great time was had by everyone.
I have absolutely loved these sessions during the course of this year and I am excited to have more little ones back next year. If you would like to book a Cake Smash Photography session in 2017 please do get in touch! You cake find out more about the sessions here.
