Last month I got to work with a beautiful family that wanted some family portraits to send to their loved ones overseas. They decided to have their pictures taken at The Priory in Thetford. I love this location as no matter what time of year, it always looks beautiful. There are always areas of shade if I need them and the ruins make for a lovely back drop.
On this particular day the weather was bright and warm. We were lucky enough to have some sporadic cloud coverage which helps defuse strong sunlight. This meant we could utilise all the possible backdrops without harsh sunlight causing unwanted shadows. We had a lot of fun working across the priory taking some individual shots as well as the family shots altogether. They were a very photogenic family! Towards the end of the shoot as their confidence had grown their personalities started to shine through. This is always so evident in the photos and why I try to save the best shots until the end of the shoot. People always need time to get used to being in front of the camera. In total we spent about an hour of time together which is perfect and allows for time to settle into the session and get a variety of poses.
The final set of images were beautiful and difficult to choose between. Here are a few of my favourites.
Booking Family Portraits

For families with younger children I like to adopt a more natural approach to the images. I will organise posed portraits but I like to photograph children playing and having fun with their family. This makes the whole shoot feel more relaxed and is particularly good for families with children under 4 years old.
